My first year in track was when I was in the eighth grade. Track has showed me how to become better at something that I had not a clue what I was doing when I started. Improvement comes from continuous practice and hard work. In fact, the two events I compete in, which are Shot Put and Discus, have given me a totally different perception of track. I enjoy those two events because they are competitive and I am somewhat good at them. From being involved in this sport, I now understand why people say "don't judge a book by its cover."

After the Spring 2005 season, I will not be competing in track because I will be racing and I would not be able to give track my full attention.
